ResInvest Energy Chorzów
A combined heat and power plant, one of the most modern production units in Poland, built in 2003 with the aim of restoring the production capacity of Elektrownia Chorzów S.A., one of the oldest (1898) power plants in Poland.
The power plant consists of two condenser-extraction energy blocks with a total electrical power of 2 × 113 MWe gross at full condensation and thermal power of 2 × 180 MWt at full cogeneration. In addition, RE Chorzów has two peak exchangers that allow for achieving thermal power of 500 MWt. The fluidized bed boilers installed at RE Chorzów were designed to burn low-calorific coal with high sulfur content.
The heat generated by RE Chorzów is sold to the local distributor, which transmits it to consumers in Katowice, Chorzów, Świętochłowice, and Siemianowice Śląskie.
